music is sound, but can sound be considered music?
some think so -

I hear ambient sound as music. Therefore I have no need to make music, though, I continue, as cheerfully as I can, to do so.
-John Cage

Music . . can be largely anything and largely nothing. For me, music holds few boundaries as art after all is in the eye of the beholder. Conservative and old fashioned types could argue for hours over restrictive and flawed definitions of music, but for me a 30 minute track of static noise could be considered music so long as the producer or an audience desired it to be. Although music often traditionally required some form of melodic or harmonic structure, it would be naive to try and impose a restrictive "universal" boundary upon experimental/progressive music; either all sound is music or no sound is music, you can't have your cake and eat it.

-Owen Williams AKA DJ The Blade

I don’t really see a separation between sound and music. It’s really one and the same.
-Jeremy Zuckerman

I think of how someone says something as a kind of music. For instance, you can usually tell if someone is angry or happy, even if you don't understand what they are saying, just by listening to the tone (the music) of their voice. We understand R2-D2 entirely through the music of his beeps and boops, not from his ‘words'.
