why is it, indeed!?

what is that part of us, seemingly somewhere deep
within, that seems to never change, never age??

is it the Soul?, the Ego?, the Self? or nothing more
than an illusion arising from brain physiology and
functioning?

this question is worth pondering, and the answer
we arrive at says a lot about who we are
