network executives are always on the lookout for
new viewers

and recently, it seems that the execs at EBC, the
the Emoticon Broadcasting Company, have found the
fabled motherload of untapped viewership

they are just weeks away from launching a new
cable channel; one that targets the large and
growing segment of the American public that has
lost interest in television

in the past decade, the exodus of these viewers
has resulted in plummeting ratings and huge loses
in advertising revenue

EBC surveys have shown that many Americans have
been turned off by traditional news and public affairs
programming; finding it dull and uninteresting

also, they seem to have had enough of TV's fluff:
the endless barrage of celebrity gossip, standup
shtick, game shows and classic comedy reruns

the surveys have also shown, that disenchanted
viewers have been looking for something a bit more
serious than the standard comedy fare, and yet, a
bit more fun than the often depressing coverage
of news and politics

EBC has banked big bucks on their analysis that
these viewers will flock to the new cable channel -
one called the The Geo-Politico-Comedy Channel,
or simply, GPCC

the 24/7 GPCC is something of a cross between
CNN and the Comedy Channel; its motto is -

GPCC -
programing that is not too heavy and not too light,
programing that fits your taste, just right!

here's a preview of one of its touted primetime
offerings - In The Crosshairs

Crosshairs is a panel talk show that examines the
day's events from both political and comedic per-
spectives;

events that we tend to talk about at the watercooler
at work; involving names like Lohan, Obama, Hilton,
Bush, Clinton and Spears

Crosshairs will be hosted by the Dean of TV news-
anchors Jim Lehrer, formerly of PBS, and his sidekick,
co-cost Larry King, who has interviewed just about
everyone of note over the past 30 years

its panel will include such heavyweights as David
Brooks of the New York Times, comedian Dave
Chappelle, syndicated columnist Mark Shields and
the controversial D-Lister, Kathy Griffin

finally, rather than being taped in a darkened, deadly
silent studio, Crosshairs will be broadcast live, under
the bright lights and in front of a live studio audience,
where anything can happen

below is a excerpt of the Crosshairs pilot; it was
leaked to us at PonderAbout.com by an unidentified
source
