19th century French poet
Charles Baudelaire, wrote:
a sweetheart is a bottle of wine,
a wife is a wine bottle
if Baudelaire were writing today
he might be tempted to substitute
"spouse" for "wife"
that is, if he wanted to be
politically correct,
gender-neutral
but
would that substitution
change the meaning
and the veracity
of his statement?
i think
the question here is:
"are men and women
equally likely
to take their spouse for granted?"
what do you think?
you may -
or may not -
want to ponder this
