The Power and Pleasure of “NO”

12/10/2007
we all have felt pressured by others to think, feel or
act in a certain way;

and when sensing this pressure, there is something
inside us that resists, that wants to refuse

but we typically don't; most of us, most of the time
we will just comply

we might make a few lame excuses and delay; but
at some point we cave, and the expectation is met

there are plenty of reasons for us to acquiesce:
guilt, fear, hope of reward, lack of assertiveness . .

or perhaps we know that complying with the
expectation is the right thing to do and it really
needs to be done - BUT

there is still that part of us that would love to
just say NO

that part of us that wants to feel the power and
pleasure of NO
