music is sound, but can sound be considered music?

Music . . can be largely anything and largely nothing. For me, music holds few boundaries as art after all is in the eye of the beholder. Conservative and old fashioned types could argue for hours over restrictive and flawed definitions of music, but for me a 30 minute track of static noise could be considered music so long as the producer or an audience desired it to be. Although music often traditionally required some form of melodic or harmonic structure, it would be naive to try and impose a restrictive “universal” boundary upon experimental/progressive music; either all sound is music or no sound is music, you can’t have your cake and eat it.

have praise for Lester’s work

finally, the cinematic innovations introduced in A Hard
Day’s Night helped to shape the music videos that
were later to appear on MTV

MTV acknowledged Lester’s influence with an award
that dubbed him the “Father of the Music Video”
